HOMELESS CONNECT DAY !
Congratulations to our Diploma of Community Welfare Work students who volunteered their services at the 2009 Homeless Connect Day held at the Albert Waterways Community Centre.
Homeless Connect is an initiative of the Gold Coast Homelessness Network and is funded by the Gold Coast City Council, Queensland Government Department of Communities and Queensland Shelter.
This free one day event gave those that are homeless or at risk of homelessness the opportunity to seek legal & health advice, speak with counsellors, receive a free hair cut and shower, and gain information on accommodation and employment options.
Our students were able to interact with guests and learn 'hands on' and gain knowledge of contemporary issues of society and also the range of welfare services available.
