New Beginnings in November 2008
7 Tips to Survive a Crisis Ps. Kindah Greening
2 Corinthians 4: 7 – 9 “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not fro us. WE are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair, persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”
Problems and trouble are part of everyday living, but when a crisis hits us, it is good to have some reserve of inner strength and resolve or indeed some reservoir of mind, out of which to form a basic plan of action and defence with which to handle it. You are the best person qualified to help in the situation.
1. Face the Reality of the Facts
Acceptance not denial is the way forward. Knowledge keeps crisis surprises at bay.
2. Do Something – Action is Needed!
Action combats negativity and builds your inner self for resilience
3. Avoid the Blame Syndrome
God-given common sense and self control are important in
staying calm.
4. Ask for Help
When it get’s tough, ask for help. Remember a problem shared is a problem halved.
5. Cut your Losses
Let Go! As hard as it might be, staying tied to the past or the problem hinders the rebuilding process.
6. Decide to Move On
Don’t be forced into making decisions, but remember indecision will hold you back. Make a decision and if you fail TRY AGAIN!
7. Have Faith
Faith breeds hope and hope gives life. Draw on your inner faith and reflect on biblical men and women who triumphed because of their faith. (1 John 5:4 … for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.”)
